That was the moment when my life totally changed.

Hi, my name is Katie...

and for the first half of my life I was convinced I would not amount to anything.

It was NOT my choice to not believe in myself, but the result of OTHER people’s actions.

I was LABELLED as the girl with a learning disability.

When I was 14 years old, teachers put me in small classroom environments and predicted a grim future.

For a long time I had low self-belief.

I felt trapped in those classrooms and had the urge to break out.

But every time I spoke up, my teachers told me to sit and keep my head down.

One time, I walked up to my teacher and told her: “This is a mistake. What am I even doing here?”

But she shot me down with one short phrase: “Katie, you belong here!”

I was furious.

Then one day, I watched my teacher spell out the word ‘Because’ on the board and I thought to myself:

“This can’t be it! There must be a way out of this!”

I was looking for somebody to rescue me. But my rescue never arrived…

That’s when I had to make a decision:

To either stay in the classroom or take the initiative myself & prove everyone wrong around me.

I somehow found the courage to get up and storm out of the classroom...

Then I ran away from the school, and I ran and ran until I got to the park...

I sat down at a bench, and to calm myself down, I imagined myself in a completely different place.

I thought about inspiring others through teaching and and it really helped...

Then I thought, "Hey, how come I know so much about teaching when I have a learning disability?"

I started thinking about all the other things I learned all over the years...

And I realized right there and then, my "learning disability" was just an illusion that had been cast over my eyes.

Once I attained this knowledge that’s when things really started to shift.

I learned about what was actually holding me back and why I always got in my own way.

I came up with the strategies which would lay the foundation for my Triple - A System that has shaped me into an impactful coach and that I successfully teach to other women inside The Impact Experience.

Even back then, I felt I could elevate others.

I motivated my peers to follow my lead and gave them the tools to escape the learning disability class alongside me.

The accomplishment of not only getting me out of there but also other students, felt like a big load has fallen off my shoulders.

As the years passed, I always remembered this moment and searched for that feeling again.

It was hard to let go of limiting beliefs and be a steadfast leader.

Then as I came in this program, at first I was so nervous and did not want to say anything and Katie just makes me feel so comfortable right away.
